Dreamcatchers have become the trend these days, all these are flowing all over the market. I’ve been thinking to make one for a long time now and finally, I’ve started on. I think because macramé has got my attention and recently done a lot of macramé in form of jewelry, I thought why not just start making dream catcher out of macramé. The highlights of this project, I would say is the cute blue pompoms. As of now, I won’t be using this dream catcher, I will store it until I get my own personal space. Although I am storing all my diy’s safely so that I can add charms to my own room. If you are also interested in making one, rush to your nearest store and get these supplies.
Supplies you’ll need
- A handle (you can use a bangle also)
- Jute yarn (2.5 meters
- White coloured yarn (2 meters)
- Pompoms
- White Tussels
- Glue gun
- Scissors
- Sewing Kit
Process:
Step 1: Just take the 5 pieces of jute rope and white yarn about a half meter each. Find the center of the rope by putting the tails together. Do the same with each piece.
Step 2: Take a piece of jute rope and place it at the center of the handle, grab the loop and pull down the tails through the loop. Now divide the rope into two and start with double half hitch knot, just take the end of the rope and put it over the handle and pull it, again over the handle and make a knot and pull it.
Step 3: Now take the 2 pieces of jute rope and place it to the left and right of the first one and knot it on the handle like the first one. Start making a square knot from left to right. This is a slightly tricky portion, if you already know all the basic macramé knotting, it will be easier for you to make this one.
Step 4: Now add 2 pieces of white yarn and place it on either side and repeat the same procedure.
Step 5: Again place the jute rope on either side beside the white yarn, knot it and make a square knot in a sequence.
Step 6: Now make half hitched knots by each yarn at the end of the handle.
Step 7: At the end of the handle, make square knot again so that yarn is not loose.
Step 8: Now glue the edges of the knots and let the glue dry. Now just cut the spare yarn.
Step 9: For making the dreamcatcher extra dreamy and cute, sew the pompom in the center with a tassel on one end and white yarn on the other and hang it at the center of the dreamcatcher 12inches long. Similarly, make more pompom hangings and hang it so that you get tassels hung in the v shape.
